Hi
I’ve finished migrating the “#####” website. You can view the result using this Website Preview link:
********************************************************************************************************************************
(This link is valid for 24 hours. Do NOT login to WordPress as an Admin using this link, as it can break the site.)
********************************************************************************************************************************
#####
Please thoroughly check the website, including any email/Contact functionality.
If you are happy with the results, then you can change the NameServers to be ours (at the Registrar of the domain) :
https://my.guru.co.uk/kb/getting-started/guru-nameservers
Primary nameserver: ns1.guru.net.uk/ns1.myukcloud.com
Secondary nameserver: ns2.guru.net.uk/ns2.myukcloud.com
Optionally, you can greatly speed-up website DNS propagation by also changing the website’s A record(s), on the old nameservers, to point to:
#####
If you only change the nameservers, then it will take those DNS changes 72 hours to fully propagate, although it may propagate to some devices before that.
But if you also change the website A record(s), then the website DNS changes may only take a few hours to propagate to most devices.
If you changed to our nameservers, and are still happy with the migration after 4 days, then you may wish to Transfer the domain to us, so that we become its Registrar (and handle the domain’s renewal).
If you wish to login to WordPress (as an Admin) before the DNS has propagated to you (or before making the DNS changes), then you will need to temporarily edit your computer’s Hosts file:
https://my.guru.co.uk/kb/getting-started/view-my-website-before-dns-changes
And add the following lines:
##### #####
##### #####
After flushing your caches & closing your web browser (or better restarting your computer), you should be able to login to the site on your GURU hosting using the normal website address:
######
I’d also advise accessing it using your browser’s Incognito/Private mode, as this helps bypass some caching.
Note that I have installed the LiteSpeed Cache plugin (as it makes a big speed difference on our hosting platform), and removed the backup plugin we used.
Lastly I have deactivated the existing caching plugin to prevent conflict with LSCache.
After DNS has finished propagating, you should perform a Mail Sync to catch any emails that were delivered to the old email hosting.
You should perform a Mail Sync now, to copy the emails across, and again after DNS has finished propagating, to catch any emails that were delivered to the old email hosting.
You can do that by logging into the GURU portal ( https://my.guru.co.uk ), at the top click on “Help & Support”, then click on Migration Mail Sync, finally enter the email details, including the old IMAP server (which is ### ), and then click on Begin Sync.
More details here:
https://my.guru.co.uk/kb/migration-info/migrating-email-to-guru
If there is a need to check for any urgent emails, then I suggest also checking the old host’s Webmail service.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
